Well, Megacorp.. like most other large US companies, are working feverishly to move as many low paying clerical type jobs overseas as possible. Megacorp is moving stuff like Accounts payable and Accounts receiveable to Hungary. Hungary? Why Hungary? I guess all the Indians in India have jobs so..... it's on to Hungary.
What is so totally pathetic is, the top people at our place all sit in Manhattan. They have 6 floors in an office building in the highest rent district in the US.... one of the highest in the world...... 6 floors of people in lower Manhattan. They live on Park Ave in New York. Not exactly Section 8 Govt housing I assure you.
This is fine and all, until they complain to the rest of the company about cutting costs and how can they lower costs. You want to save costs? How about looking around you. I wonder what kind of cost center that Manhattan office is. Geez...... Plus... I read the financial message boards on Yahoo and such for our company and it's stock. Our CEO gives himself a 25% raise in his bonus but the regular workers who might actually getting a raise get 2% if they are lucky.
I just don't see how moving all these low paying clerical jobs overseas saves anything. Infrastructure has to be built to support these remote people. They need to be trained. And.. worst of all, usually the service amost always SUCKS! SO yeah.. you saved a few bucks but the people calling into these centers have to deal with the hassles and are not happy. A very good way to piss off your customers.
Has anyone called HP customer support lately? Shit. I refuse to buy any HP product. I had to call their support desk once for another persons printer I was having issues with. They were of no help. Worse yet, the person asked me how my Christmas was.. and who was I hoping would win the superbowl. They teach these people that shit to make you think you are calling someone in the US. This shows that even the companies that do the outsourcing are afraid to admit it and try to hide it by "Ameicanizing" these foreign workers. I tell ya, it does not work. I can hear the lag on the phone call. I can tell I am calling many thousands of miles. I can hear the accets. Some still sound like indians and other have been trained to sound speak with an English accent.
Funnier yet.. the CIO of our company was one of 100 winners of some CIO magazine award or something. Give me a break. "Yeah.. I canned 400 people last year. Sure when an employee calls the IT help desk, they get no help and would get more insightful solutions by using a ouiji board, but.. horray for me anyway because I made my bonus". Yeah.... FUCK YOU is what I say. Trust me, the bozo's moving this shit overseas are not the people who have to use these services so, it's no big deal to them.
