Well, it has been sort of quite here at Megacorp. However, things are getting better again.
Our group, or division, is supposed to go onto Megacorp's Main Oracle system for stuff like AR and inventory and work orders and customer orders and so on. There have been like 15 people on the team trying to do this and they have been doing this for a year now. Our division is like 10 locations. This team consists of 4 or 5 oracle consultants and another 10 or so employees from the various locations.
We were all supposed to be LIVE on this system by November of 2003. The schedule has gotten pushed back and back and so on. Well, it is not only pushed back again but, some locations are so far out there is no actual schedule and no planned date. The earliest is like the end of 2003 and this is only for a few places of the 10. The remaining have no idea when they will be going live.
I know that projects often fall behind the timelines but... every week they push this back, is one mroe week of 4 or 5 oracle consultants cranking up those billable charges and travel expenses. Every week of delay is more travel expenses and such for the 10 other Megacorp people that have to fly in to my location every Sunday and fly out every Friday. The travel costs alone are going to be nuts. The high fuel prices are definitly not helping either.
