Well, the line "fate is not without a sense of Irony" from the Matrix movie really fits here. I received in the UPS today, a package from Megacorp's headquarters. In that package wsa a plaque and a small silver picture frame/calendar for me. Why? Because I, and the other leaders of the Datacenter consolidation team have won some 2003 Megacorp Global Leadership Award. The DataCenter Consolidation project involves shutting down servers in remote locations and moving their functionality to new or already existing servers in the US datacenter. This means replacing remote servers with basic file/print sharing sevices or, moving more complex systems into the Datacenter. Well, this is exactly why I am losing my job. Once all the systems are gone from my location, no need for me. I was the leader for all the systems my employer has. So, I won an award for doing a good job on a project, whose end result was removing my own job. Sort of funny.
